Category: Gates and Fencing
There are many things we wish we didn’t have to think about. Boundaries, security, goods that are worn or decrepit, and dogs that have found the route to freedom are all frustrations at different times. Most of these concerns are costly to resolve when they are left to become a crisis.
Until recently, the cost of installing electric gates meant they were only practical for large estates. In the past decade, this has changed. Now, even the average person can justify the cost of electric gates. Simply not having to leave your car in the rain to exit and open a gate is a huge benefit. Safety considerations also justify the expense. Typically, the person who exits to open a gate leaves their car running. An electric system solves this issue.
Deciding on a material for a gate has cost and maintenance considerations. Wrought iron will rust without regular paint. Alumininum is naturally more expensive, but less maintenance. Timber can look really nice, but the wood will weather like every other outdoor wooden structure.
For fencing, how long it lasts is largely determined by the post installation. Fence panels that are well made but set in posts that haven’t been installed with adequate depth or concrete will be on the ground after the first serious storm. If you’ve fencing put in, it’s worth checking how the contractor handles the posts before agreeing to anything.
